A developed nation requires three primary prerequisites: human capital, physical capital, and financial capital. Out of these, human capital is the most crucial as it is only people who can be the catalyst to create a developed country. A developed country with a high per capita income provides access to good quality education, healthcare, and a good income to meet their aspirations. India boasts abundant human capital with over 265.5 crore young children in school and over 4.3 crore young people in college, both growing rapidly. In the next 10 years, almost all children should receive 12 years of schooling, and at least 50-60% of all children should attain a good college education. India is on track to achieve this target.
India needs to establish a higher education system that prepares our children and young graduates to meet the demands of a country that is a leader in the digital revolution age. We are living in a world of rapid change where the digital revolution drives global growth. We are moving towards a single platform where we can engage with each other, and technology's benefits will be accessible to all. The vision of a developed nation by 2047 necessitates a strategy to enhance our school and college education. Have research and development drive the educational system, create a highly skilled workforce capable of being extremely productive at the global level, generate a workforce capable of working in any country worldwide, and create enough high-paying jobs to fulfill the aspirations of our youth.
In this endeavour, the HR fraternity of the country has a significant role to play in developing strategies to realise this vision and improve our school and higher education systems, enhance the skills and talents of our people, and foster necessary innovative breakthroughs to significantly boost productivity. This will ensure a highly globalised workforce that can be the envy of any nation. This conference aims to discuss various strategies to achieve this lasting target that India has set for itself. Hence the theme of the conference is “India@2047: Human Capital for a Developed India”
